Kindermusik FAQ

How old does my child have to be to start Kindermusik classes?
Kindermusik has many different classes for many different age groups, ranging from 0-7. However I personally like to welcome new members from the age of 3 months. With 3 months they have has a bit of time to settle into the world, and are ready to start enjoying in it!

How do I know which group my child belongs in?

Generally the groups seperate as follows
        Village: 0 - 18 months
Our Time: 18 months - 3 years (including the 3rd year)
        Imagine That: 3 years - 5 years
        Young Child: 5 years - 7 years

3 months? Isn't that a bit young? How can babies benefit from their own music class?
We’ve learned that infants are born with billions of nerve cells and a nearly unlimited potential for connections between those nerve cells. Every time an infant has a sensory experience, neural pathways are formed. The greater the number of neural pathways, the greater the brain power. Rich sensory environments are vital to the brain development of infants.

In a Village class, we dance in a social setting to allow infants to understand and anticipate patterns, which preps their brains for math and musical theory. We play with steady beat, which underlies our ability to pick up the pattern of language. This is vital, because unless children can pick up the language patterns, they cannot learn to read and write. The bonding and comforting activities we show you in class help you and baby to work through all the natural stresses that occur with growing and developing. Music increases coordination and balance, promotes literacy and language, cultivates listening skills, and encourages delightful and rewarding interaction with your baby!

Can I bring a sibling to class?

Of course you can. Up until the sibling is 6 months old, it is free of cost. Once they turn 6, than there is a 50chf as I will not fill up that space in the class anymore.

Is there is a twin discount?
If you have twins enrolled in any Kindermusik Class, you get a 50% discount off of the second child's enrollment fees!

That price is expensive! Why does the class cost so much?
When you buy a dress, you don't just pay the flat cost of the materials it cost to make the dress. You also pay for the time it took to make the dress, the person who designed the dress, the cost for marketing and shipping and getting it into the stores, the equipment used in making the dress, etc. You also pay for the name brand that is associated with the dress. Similarly, the fees that you pay to attend Kindermusik cover a multitude of items. For instance:

A.                  Kindermusik is the leader in Early Childhood Music and Movement programs. Being a part of "KINDERMUSIK" ensures that you are getting an internationally tested and tried product that works and is the leader in the field.

B.         Kindermusik regularly consults with experts in the field of Early Childhood development, music and movement as they develop their curricula, such as: Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect; Melissa R. Johnson, pediatric psychologist; Anne Green Gilbert, author of Creative Dance for Children; Claudia Quigg, founder and executive director of Baby TALK; Mary Sheedy Kurcinka, author of Raising Your Spirited Child; Patricia Campbell, author of Songs in Their Head: Music and Its Meaning in Children's Lives, and others. These experts, along with an amazing Creative Team, bring their knowledge and experience into your lives. No other program can boast of such backing. This is worth a lot.

C.         The materials produced by Kindermusik International are of the highest quality. The CDs, Literature and other home materials are unsurpassed. The talented artists, musicians and arrangers make the music come alive. You only have to listen to one CD to know that this is no ordinary children's music CD. Music learning with the family in the home is a fundamental cornerstone of Kindermusik and this is accomplished best through the use of home materials. Other programs may offer no or optional home materials which makes it hard to continue the experience at home. Very worthwhile.

D.         When you take Karate, Gymnastics, Dance or even music lessons, there are always uniform and costume fees, recital fees, instrument rentals or purchase and music fees, etc. When comparing total prices, Kindermusik is often less expensive than these other programs.

E.         A variety of instruments, props and equipment are necessary to provide a wide range of learning experiences in the class - Inventory costs.

F. "       You get what you pay for!" - and more! To quote Carla Hannaford, author of Smart Moves," Kindermusik is elegant in its integrated approach to a child's development. Physiologically, touch, movement, rhythm and sound are the keystones to optimizing brain growth. The importance of having families working together, where everyone benefits from the sense of belonging, gets directly at the heart of what we, as a society, need at this time to raise healthy, loving children. . . All of this is provided in the Kindermusik program." Priceless!!$

What is your make-up policy?
You can make up any classes missed at any other Kindermusik class at any other time as long as the class is not full.

I am going on vacation for 4 weeks of the semester. Do I have to pay the full price?
Spaces in a Kindermusik class are limited and I could only hold your spot in the class if you pay the full price. However I do have the most liberal make up policy allowing you to make up all and any classes missed at your convenience!

Can I enroll my child in a class at anytime?
Absolutely! Kindermusik classes are structured so you can join an ongoing class at anytime. If you enroll after a session has begun, your tuition will be prorated.

What is your refund policy?
Like other activities your child is enrolled in, whether swimming, dance or sports, when you register we reserve a space in the class for your child for the entire session. As classes have a maximum number of children we can accept, we unfortunately have to turn away families as your space is reserved for your child, and we will not give it away nor overcrowd our classes.

Because we are a small, locally owned business, cancellations greatly affect us, and we appreciate your understanding of this. Therefore, once the session begins there are no refunds. However we will gladly issue you a pro-rated credit (less materials) towards a future session if you need to cancel after the session begins. The only way it is possible to receive a refund is if your family is moving out of Switzerland(for more specifics contact Brandy directly)
We recognize unexpected circumstances come up, and we will always do our best to accommodate you!!
